Cumberland County CERT Minutes of the February 8, 2012 Meeting

1) The meeting was called to order by Marlin Scott, Commander, Cumberland County CERT @ 7:10pm.
2) Minutes of the January 28th meeting were read and approved by all. Terry Mills made a motion to approve, the motion was seconded by Joe Vittorelli. Carried
3) CERT Members discussed to plan to go to Cary and participate in their training or to be spectators, they would like to go on a Saturday. They would like to appoint a contact person and also have a meeting to coordinate it.
4) Eastover 317 class will be held this Saturday and February 25th.
5) Discussion was brought to the floor that member would like to know the status of our 501c3.
6) At out February 22 meeting our training will be given by Commander Marlin Scott on shelter operations.
7) The meeting was adjourned at 8:55pm. David made the motion and was seconded by Steve.
Cumberland County CERT Minutes of the November 9th Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Roy Ward, Deputy Commander, Cumberland County CERT @ 7:15pm.
1) Minutes of the October 12th meeting were read. Terry Mills made a motion to approve, the motion was seconded by Gene Walker. Carried
2) Announcments were made that the Hope Mills Parade is scheduled for December 3rd to which we will be working with the police officers at each of the street intersections. The parade will start at 3:00PM. The CERT members who have signed, up will meet at Carlie C’s parking lot at 2:00PM.
3) Marlin Scott thanked all the CERT members who attendedour food booth on Old Mills Day in Hope Mills which was held on Octobert 22.
4) Our Poinsettia sales have been extened until the 10th of December for Pickup.
5) The second group of the 317th Class in eastover will be graduating on Nov. 12th. All CERT members are welcome to come the hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm.
6) The Train the Trainer class will be on Dec. 2nd and 3rd in Durham.
7) Our next meeting will be held on Nov. 30th at 7:00pm at Cotton Fire Dept.

The meeting was called to order by Marlin Scott, Commander, Cumberland County CERT @ 7:12pm.
1) Minutes of the October 12th meeting were read. Roy Ward made a motion to approve, the motion was seconded by Julia Love. Carried
2) Announcments were made that Terry Mills, will be giving a class at our November 9th meeting on Food Preparation and Storage and Joe Vittorelli will be giving a class at our November 30th meeting on Traffic Direction.
3) Marlin Scott thanked all the CERT members who attendedour food booth on Old Mills Day in Hope Mills which was held on Octobert 22.
4) Each year our CERT team help the Hope Mills Police Dept. during their Christmas Parade. We would really appreciate your help this year for a few hours. We do not have an exact date at this time, it will be aroung the first or second week in December.
5) Roy Ward made a motion to have the written and practical exam of the 317thclass to be held at the Cotton Fire Department because he would like to have a “hands on” in putting out a fire. Ruth Farley seconded the Motion. Carried
6) A discussion was brought to the floor concerning our yearly dues of $25.00A motion was made by Julia Love and seconded by Roy Ward that $1.00 would be deducted from each event that a CERT memeber attends. Carried
7) Our Training class was given by Cotton Fire Department on Truck 461 which was identification and location on the air tanks and equipment.
Julia Love made the motion to adjourn and was seconded by Terry Mills at 8:50pm. Carried

Cumberland County CERT Minutes of the October 12th Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Marlin Scott, Commander, Cumberland County CERT @ 7:05pm.
1) Announcements was made of teams being formed of CERT trainees as follows:
- Team 1 – Hope Mills Team w/ Ruth Farley as leader.
- Team 2 – Methodist University w/ Carla Padilla as leader.
- Team 3 – Fayetteville State University w/ Joe Vittorelli as leader.
- Team 4 – Eastover Team w/ David Sheffield as leader.
- Team 5 – Linden Team w/ Margie Whitehead as leader.
Each team leader was advised of future upcoming meeting for leaders.
2) Financial report was given for the last 6 months showing all activity.
3) Meeting/training schedules for November and December was discussed.
- Motion made by Roy Ward to change the 11/23 meeting to 11/30 due to Thanksgiving. Seconded by Steve. Carried.
- Motion made Roy Ward to cancel the 12/21 meeting due to Christmas Seconded by Liz.Reeser. Carried.
- Motion made by Julia Love to move the 12/7 meeting to 12/6 so Pastor Skinner can attend. Seconded by Kim Nazaechyle. Carried.
4) A Train-the Trainer class for 317 was announced by Joe Villorelli for Dec 2/3 in Durham. Registration on the sate website.
5) Announcement was made that to date no date has been provided for the Hope Mills Christmas parade by Hope Mills Parks & Rec.
6) A reminder that the annual Pointsettia sale will start Oct 26 and continue to the HM Christmas parade.
7) Attendees was advised the Ft Bragg EM has requested our presence at the spring Stormfest scheduled for May 2012/
Joe Vittorelli announced FSU was be having a 317 CERT class 11/17 and 18 on campus for campus personnel. (Not opened to the public.)
9) A after-action was presented by Roy Ward on the exercise conducted 9/28 with pro and con input from the attendees.
10) A reminder was given for everyone needs to complete the ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 with 100 and 200 being required for current members

SKYWARN Spotter Course

SKYWARN Spotter Course Added
MetEd just opened a new distance learning course, SKYWARN® Spotter Training. This course covers the basics of being a SKYWARN Spotter. The goal of the course is to provide baseline training for all spotters through multiple modules covering the procedures for spotting (including communication and spotter report criteria) and safety considerations for all hazards.

Cumberland County CERT Minutes of the July 27th Meeting

Meeting was called to order and the Minutes of the July 13th, 2011 meeting were read and a motion to accept was made by Roy Ward and seconded by Gene.
The Red Cross Run for the Red on August 6th, 2011. Volunteers need to be on their assigned corners by 5:45am.
We will be having out food booth at the Hope Mills Days in October, details will be forthcoming.
Our training was a 2 person assessment presented by Steve, Roy and Matthew.
Our meeting scheduled for August 24, 2011 will be move to August 31st and will be held at the Rim Lake Fire Department at 7:00pm.
The meeting was Adjourned was at 8:50pm.
